Harrisburg, PA, February 26, 2008 - On-Q/Legrand, the leader in Home Systems, announced today two additions to its
data communications offering. The DA1004 Ethernet Router/Switch boasts
a router disable option and a new form factor while the DA1008 8-Bit Gigabit
Switch offers the maximum bandwidth available for high-end applications. The
combination of the new products with the current On-Q offering creates a consolidated
networking line designed to simplify the buying process for installers.
The DA1004 Ethernet Router/Switch offers key enhancements over similar router/switches,
including a de-select switch and a built-in, two-bay form factor. The de-select
switch eliminates time-consuming and expensive conflicts with other routers.
By setting the de-select switch to the off position, the installer can disable
the router functionality, allowing the homeowner to use another router while
still relying on the DA1004 as a switch.
“Homeowners frequently sign up with their ISP after their On-Q Home
System is installed,” explains Tom Cunningham, product manager for On-Q’s
data line. “The de-select switch eliminates time-consuming reconfiguring
and the expense of additional components by allowing the product to act either
as a router or as a switch.” In addition, the router is designed in
the standard, double-bay style making it easy to install in any On-Q enclosure.
On-Q/Legrand also released the DA1008 8-Bit Gigabit Switch, designed to meet
the needs of today’s bandwidth-intensive applications. The home networking
device offers the highest speed Ethernet available for the home, delivering
worry-free distribution of IP-enabled high-definition multimedia. “With
the advent of streaming high-definition video to home computers, our Gigabit
Ethernet switch offers the performance and reliability necessary to enjoy bandwidth-intensive
multimedia uninterrupted in multiple locations,” said Cunningham. The
built-in, 8-port switch installs into a double bay in any On-Q enclosure and
auto-detects the optimum speed for the connection.
“We’re excited to present two new devices that offer both key
features and performance while making the specification process easier,” said
Cunningham. The new products replace similar On-Q routers and switches, creating
a simplified data offering that eases network configuration. “By
pairing the new DA1004 and DA1008 with the award-winning On-Q Wireless Access
Points, the dealer can easily select and configure a home network -- similar
to ordering from an à la carte menu -- with the necessary bandwidth,
reliability and speed using fewer components.”
On-Q/Legrand has simplified their data offering to include an in-ceiling and
an in-wall WAP (364887-01 and 364891-01 respectively), a 5-Port 10/100 Ethernet
Switch (DA1002), and the newly released DA1004 and DA1008. This product
line consolidation simplifies ordering for On-Q customers. The DA1004
and DA1008 will be available in late March 2008.
