Shortly after being founded as On-Q Technologies, the company defined the standards for bringing Structured Wiring to homebuyers on a mass scale. By establishing a large network of distributors and marketing “smarthome” solutions directly to builders and installers, On-Q was able to gain dominant market share in the Structured Wiring category.  Recognizing a larger market need for expanded home technologies and lifestyle solution-based products, the company changed its name in 2004 to On-Q Home and with it introduced a new paradigm for marketing and sales.  This paradigm, a combination of pre-specified packages designed to meet the needs of new construction homebuyers, accelerated the adoption of technology in the home and simplified the selection process.

Earning recognition amongst the industry for its innovations and success, the company was then purchased in 2005 by Legrand­-a France-based and European brand leader in premise wiring.  On-Q/Legrand quickly absorbed Legrand’s competitive structured wiring line, Greyfox Home Systems, and with it an impressive set of innovative technologies and a loyal customer base.  The company followed its introduction of solution-based selling with the establishment of a revolutionary Builder Partner Program that included the best tools, materials, training, and support in the industry.

In 2007, the company announced the acquisition of UStec, a competitor recognized for product style and infrastructure design, and is currently absorbing the technology and influence into its current offering. Far exceeding customer expectations and with a continuous stream of product innovations, On-Q/Legrand is broadening its distribution channel through several key retail relationships throughout 2007 and 2008.
